Scott’s All*Stars
basketball tryouts set
Scott’s All*Stars will have tryouts for boys in fifth through ninth grades at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Liberty County YMCA. The final required tryouts will be Feb. 8-9, with more information to follow.
All*Star participants will be required to participate in community services and become mentors of youth in staying drug-free. Participants also take periodic trips to college campuses. GSU hosting baseball camps Saturday, Monday
Georgia Southern has two baseball camps planned to provide expert-level instruction to nearly all age ranges. GSU will host the Georgia Southern baseball-prospect camp from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at J.I. Clements Stadium.
The camp is open to 2014-17 high-school graduates and features instruction and a showcase/pro-style workout.
College coaches from NCAA divisions I and II, NAIA and junior-college schools, along with professional scouts, will teach the skills necessary to reach the collegiate playing level.
The second camp GSU will host is the winter youth camp from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday. This camp is open to grades K-8. The youth camp features instruction from the baseball coaching staff.
All campers will need to bring all necessary baseball equipment such as bats, gloves, cleats, tennis shoes, catchers gear (if needed), etc.

Low Country Storm holding tryouts
A new basketball team, the Low Country Storm, will host basketball tryouts on Feb. 15 at the Riceboro Youth Center. It is open to girls ages 15 and younger and boys 14 and younger. The girls’ tryout will be from 2-3:30 p.m., and the boys’ tryouts are from 3:30-5 p.m.
