The Long County 4-H archery team recently competed in the fourth annual state indoor archery match in Perry, with one of its competitors taking first place.
Mackenzie Pattison claimed the top spot in the Cloverleaf Division with the recurve bow.
Also competing in the recurve division for the Long County team were Katherine Madorma and Sierra Evans.
Justin Bustle, Brooke Brandon, Harley Friel, Lyndsie Groover, Dustin Miller, Cody Groover and Rose Toutai competed with a compound bow.
“We are very proud of all members for their hard work and dedication ... all participants enjoyed this competition and are looking forward to the state competition,” Long County 4-H program coordinator Lisa Overbey said.
Overbey thanked coaches Suzanne Stephens, Don Peltona and Tom and Christine Fisher for volunteering their time.
Overbey said that the state tournament will take place May 3- 4 at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton. The Long County 4-H archery team won the state title and finished third in the nation in 2010. The program also has produced two former members, Linda Stephens and Cassandra Pelton, who are competing at the collegiate level.
