The Long County High School baseball team begins its journey to make up ground in Region 2-AA when the Blue Tide play Brantley County on Friday in Nahunta. The Tide (4-8 overall, 1-5 in the region) need a second-half surge to position themselves for a possible postseason berth, but it won’t be easy in a region where two of the teams currently are ranked in the GACA Top 10 in Class A. The good news is Long County played both teams in close games earlier this year. But first, Long County plays host to Groves in a non-region contest at 6 p.m. tonight.
