Tuesday wasn’t a good night for the Long County High School soccer teams with both the girls and boys teams falling Atkinson County.
Playing in Ludowici, the Lady Tide and the Lady Rebels had a physical game with the visitors winning, 3-0.
The boys game was also competitive for the first half; with Atkinson leading, 1-0, at the break. But in the second half, the deeper bench on the visiting sideline became evident. The Rebels scored four more goals to take the victory 5-0.
With the losses, the Tide teams both fell to 5-8 overall and 3-7 in the 2-AA Region. The Atkinson boys improved their overall record to 10-1 and 7-1 in the region while the girls now stand at 6-6-1 overall and 5-4 in the region.
Wednesday, Long County teams are back on the field in Candler County to take on Metter High School in two big region games. According to EurosportScoreboard.com the Tigers go into that game 1-7 overall and in the region. The Lady Tigers come in still looking for their first win, being 0-8 on both charts.
When the teams played earlier this year the Blue Tide won a competitive game, 3-1. The Lady Tide won 9-0. The games are in Metter and begin at 5 p.m.
