The Long County High School girls’ basketball team fell, 66-25, to Tattnall County in a nonregion contest Friday in Ludowici.  
The visitors had a 39-14 lead at halftime.
Despite the loss, Long County head coach Brian Todd was proud of his team’s heart.
“We don’t have a lot of size, and they were bigger, faster and stronger than us, but our team continued to fight hard to the end of the game,” he said.
However, Todd said that the girls have to do better at finishing their shots.
“We were making our shots in the paint and getting some good looks, but our lack of rebounding didn’t let us finish our shots, and we’ve got to get better in that area of our game,” he said.
Tyronica Johnson led Long County with 11 points.
Also scoring for the Lady Tide were Elexxus Wrighton with five points, Katie Estill with four, Kaylyn McEwin with two, and Keshawndra Cooper, Keke Calhoun and Kicha May each with one point.
Tattnall County’s Kerria McDonald was the game’s leading scorer with 19 points.  
The Lady Tide, who fell to 0-2 with the loss, were scheduled to play Wayne County on Saturday in Ludowici.  Results from that game will be in this Friday’s Coastal Courier.
Also scoring for the Lady Tide were Elexxus Wrighton with five points, Katie Estill with four, Kaylyn McEwin with two, and Keshawndra Cooper, Keke Calhoun and Kicha May each with one point.
The Lady Tide (0-2) were scheduled to play Wayne County on Saturday in Ludowici.

The Long County High School boys’ basketball team went into Friday’s home game seeking its first win. However, Tattnall County had other ideas.
The Battle Creek Warriors used a big second-quarter run to pull away for an 82-49 nonregion win over the Blue Tide in Ludowici.
With the loss, the Blue Tide took an 0-2 record into Saturday’s home game with Wayne County.
Friday’s game was pretty even early on, with Tattnall County having a 17-13 lead at the end of the first period.
But in the second period, the Warriors went on a 9-0 run en route to a 45-27 halftime lead.
Things didn’t get much better for the Blue Tide in the second half.
Tattnall County now has a 6-5 advantage in the series between the two schools.  The loss was the worst for Long County against the Battle Creek Warriors.
Vanda Vereen Jr. led the Blue Tide with 17 points. Clay Strickland and James Francis each had eight points for Long County, and Gage Kasperian had six points.
Tattnall County’s Michael Joyce led all scorers with 26 points.
After the game Long County head coach Deshon Brock had little positive to say about the game, but did state his team must improve in its on-ball defense and decrease its fouls.
