Trailing by seven points with five minutes left in the game, the Bradwell Institute Tigers bounced back and forced overtime at Windsor Forest Friday night.
The Tigers emerged with a 71-69 win in the Region 3B-AAAAA matchup. The boys are in their second go-round against region opponents. The Tigers had already defeated the Knights 51-48 in their first contest Dec. 14. The win brings the BI boys to an 11-9 overall mark and a 7-3 region record.
In the girls game the Lady Tigers proved to be too much for the Lady Knights. Coach Faye Baker’s girls cruised to a 62-38 win in Savannah, improving to 9-1 in the region and 9-11 overall.
The Tigers were set to host Statesboro yesterday in non-region games and will host Jenkins on Tuesday ,starting with the girls game at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile the Liberty County High School basketball teams were in Statesboro Friday night for their region 3A-AAAA matchup.
In the boys game the Blue Devils ran the floor, crushing the Panthers 82-42. The Panther boys are 7-12 overall and own a 1-3 region mark.
The final score of the girls game had not been posted by press time.
Liberty hosted Jenkins Saturday and hosts South Effingham next Friday, beginning at 7 p.m.
