The Bradwell Tigers got a huge fight from the Windsor Forest Knights on Friday, eking out a 71-68 double-overtime win in Savannah in Region 3-AAAAA action.
In Friday’s first game, the Lady Tigers swiftly handled the Lady Knights, 70-23.

BOYS
Windsor Forest outscored the Tigers, 12-4, in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Neither team scored in the first extra session, but Bradwell topped the Knights, 11-8, in the second overtime.
The senior leadership of coach Rhett Hellgren’s starting three guards — Reasha Stokes, Malcolm Dingle and Jamorris Hill — paced the team, with all three scoring in double digits. Stokes notched 25 points on the night, Dingle scored 16 and Hill added 15 points, including two 3-pointers.
Despite the win, Hellgren said it wasn’t the Tigers’ best game to date, but a region win still is worth celebrating.
Going into Saturday’s game at Statesboro, the Tigers had an 8-2 region record and 12-7 overall mark. As of Friday, Jenkins had the region’s first-place spot in the region, while Effingham County was tied with BI for second.

GIRLS
BI senior guard Akeyla Richardson scored 17 points, and Jakaria Fleming scored 13. Sophomore Brianna Johnson, a new transfer student, made a big impression on Lady Tiger coach Faye Baker by scoring 10 points.
“She knows the game. She is athletic and definitely a welcome addition to the team,” Baker said about Johnson.
Alize Roberts added 10 points off the bench.
Baker said the Lady Tigers played man defense and pressed for the first half. Once they had a significant lead, she went to the zone defense. The move basically shut down the Lady Knights, who were held to only 11 points the entire second half.
“We also made better decisions with the ball and read their defense better than we did during our first game against them,” Baker said. “We played more agaggressive, we were patient in finding the open person and that led to better shots.”
The Lady Tigers were 6-13 overall and 4-6 in the region going into Saturday’s game at Statesboro. Results from Saturday were unavailable at press time.
The Bradwell teams will have another huge region game Tuesday in Savannah when they face Jenkins, pending the weather. The Warrior boys are the top-seeded team in the region and handed the boys a big loss they will seek to avenge.
