Bradwell Institute, First Presbyterian Christian Academy and Liberty County High School all had bad days Wednesday on the baseball field.
The three prep schools lost their respective road games. Bradwell dropped a 4-1 non-conference decision to Brunswick. Liberty County fell, 14-4, in five innings to South Effingham in Guyton in a Region 3-AAAA contest. FPCA lost a tough, 4-3, contest to Pinewood.
BRADWELL
Sophomore Ryan Desbiens pitched four innings taking the loss. He had four strikeouts and walked two batters while giving up four hits and four runs, two of which were earned.
Junior Tiger Stephon Felton pitched two innings getting one strikeout, walking four and allowing one hit.
Brunswick held a 1-0 lead and later extended the lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Tiger Brandon Woodard was 1 for 3 with one run batted in, scoring in Sage Sammons. Chris Bell and Chris Nunn each were 1 for 3.
Bradwell, 3-6 overall and 1-2 in Region 3-AAAAA, will host Glynn Academy at 6 tonight in a region matchup.
FPCA
Pinewood Christian rallied to beat the Highlanders in Bellville.
FPCA coach Ryan Harmon said the Highlanders held a 3-0 lead until the bottom of the fifth inning. Pinewood notched one run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to tie the game. With two out in the bottom of the seventh inning, Pinewood scored the go-ahead run.
Harmon said his team was a little short-handed, with a starter having to miss the game.
“We had to start with two freshmen in the outfield, and they played very well,” he said.
Freshman Nathan Burris had his first high-school hit, a single, and recorded an RBI. Jake Lee pitched four shutout innings.
“It was a big improvement from the first game,” Harmon said, referring to FPCA’s 11-1 loss to Trinity Christian last week. “I think we will be getting better every time we play.”
Kyle Hill pitched one inning, giving up one run, and Darrius Tilghman pitched the final two innings, giving up three runs.
FPCA hosts Brentwood at 4:30 p.m. today in a Region 2-AA matchup. FPCA pitcher James Moon will start on the hill.
FPCA is 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the region.

LIBERTY COUNTY
Trailing, 2-0, at the top of the third inning, the Panthers scored four runs to take the lead.
However, the Mustangs scored eight runs in the bottom of the third. The Mustangs added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to end the game via the run-rule.
Liberty’s Lamar Speight was 2 for 3 with one RBI. Colby Rhea and Jacari Roberts each were 1 for 3 with one RBI. Gary Albertson had one RBI.
Rhea pitched four innings, getting four strikeouts and walking one. Of the 10 runs he allowed, only two were earned. Aric Albertson finished on the mound, walking one and giving up four runs, one of which was earned.
