It was a tough start for the local high school football teams.

Bradwell Institute traveled to Jesup where the Wayne County Yellow Jackets welcomed them and earned a 35-7 win in the preseason scrimmage.

At Liberty County High School the scrimmage between the Panthers and Glynn County netted the Red Terrors a 40-6 victory.

Both Bradwell and Liberty were able to play their potential starters and backups. At Liberty lightning caused a 30 minute delay and the junior varsity squads took over for the entire fourth quarter.

Both teams will have two weeks to fix the miscues and breakdowns before taking the field against each other at the regular season opener scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at the newly constructed Olvey Field.
