Two GSU games on initial ESPNU schedule
Eagles will face Appalachian State, Troy during 1st year in Sun Belt

NEW ORLEANS — The Sun Belt Conference and ESPN on Tuesday released six ESPNU telecasts featuring Sun Belt teams for this upcoming football season, including a pair of games at Georgia Southern’s Paulson Stadium.
GSU will host Appalachian State on Thursday, Sept. 25, on ESPNU. Also, the Eagles’ home game against Troy will be broadcast Thursday, Oct. 30.
Game times will be announced later.
The Sun Belt and ESPN previously released two games that were selected to air midweek on ESPN2.  
Louisiana-Lafayette, the 2013 league co-champion, will travel to face Texas State at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14. The Ragin’ Cajuns then will host the team they split the 2013 championship with as Arkansas State at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21. The Red Wolves are winners of at least a share of the last three Sun Belt Championships.
Other league games announced Tuesday are Abilene Christian at Georgia State at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27; Wake Forest at Louisiana-Monroe at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28; Troy at South Alabama on Friday, Oct. 24, time TBA; and Arkansas State at Texas State on 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30.

Cook-off set for
Blue-White spring game
STATESBORO — For Eagle fans who have self-proclaimed themselves as the best tailgate chef in the Eagle Nation, there will be an official Tailgate Cook-Off prior to the Saturday, April 12, Blue-White spring game to prove the point.
In addition to bragging rights, a trophy for the team or individual that makes the tastiest tailgate tidbits wins the grand prize of four tickets to the Georgia Southern-Georgia Tech football game and one-night hotel stay for the game in Atlanta. The contest will take place in the tailgate lot west of Paulson Stadium.
Eagle fans are invited to serve as tasting judges and may purchase a wristband for $2 per person to enter the tailgate zone, sample the entries and complete a ballot to determine the top three.
Scores from the tasting judges will be tabulated and winners will be announced during the Blue-White game. Tasting will begin at
10 a.m. and conclude at 11:30 a.m.
To enter the contest, a team or individual must RSVP by Monday, April 7, via online registration and pay the $10 cash fee per entry on-site April 12.
All teams or individuals are responsible for providing their own food and equipment for cooking and will be allowed only one vehicle inside the cook-off zone.
The second-place winner wins an autographed football, a Georgia Southern fan pack, two tickets, two field passes and two concessions vouchers for a 2014 GSU home game.
Two concession vouchers and two tickets to an Eagles home game go to the third-place winner.
