Yellow Jackets shut down Panthers

Wayne County slugged their way to an 18-1 win at Liberty County High School Friday in a Region 3-AAAA game.
Panther pitcher Gary Albertson gave up eight hits in four innings.
Trailing 8-0, Quindon Montgomery took the mound in the fifth. Wayne County loaded the bases and Montgomery walked in two runs. The Yellow Jackets then got more hits and a wild pitch gave them a run to go up 13-0.
The Panthers’ Curtis Michalowicz took the mound. He walked in a run, gave up two hits and hit a batter. The Yellow Jackets were up 18-0 and were still batting but had two outs.
Jacari Roberts took the mound to close the inning.
The Panthers avoided the shutout with two hits and JT Evans crossed home on a wild pitch.
The Panthers fall to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in Region 3-AAAA. The Liberty boys host Statesboro Monday at 6 p.m.
