The We Run It track team competed at the Eastern High School Classic on Jan. 31 at the University of North Carolina.

The We Run It track team competed at the Eastern High School Classic on Jan. 31 at the University of North Carolina.

According to WRI coach Nathan Mimms, the team did a great job and set a lot of personal records.

Mimms said Alysha Anderson, Destiny Hall, Jaelynn James and Tekeyla Sadler ran the 4x200-meter relay and finished 10thout of 25 teams.

James was 15thout of 80 runners in the 55 run, while Hall finished 28th.

In the boys’ heat of the 55 run, Theodis Wilcox was 12thout of 91 and Patrick Williams 28thout of 91.

Dejah Smith placed 15thof 35 in the shot put, and Anthony Stewart was 14thout of 29.

Alysha Anderson was 11thout of 22 in the triple jump. In the 300 run, Tekeyla Sadler 42ndout of 93 for the girls, while Desmon Hines was 13thout of 98 for the boys.

Mimms said Shasanay Mims, Jacari Roberts, Kimberly Frasier, Miquail Evans and Chandre Mells also competed at the event.

Afterward, the team visited former Liberty County football player Shadrach Thornton, who is a running back for N.C. State. The team also took a picture in front of the Wolfpack statue.
