Local youth win honors in MLB Pitch Hit and Run Competition

Sixty children participated in the Nitro Baseball Association’s Pitch Hit & Run Competition this past Saturday at the Liberty County Recreation Center. The following won in their respective age groups:

For baseball, Trevor Lites, Ja’Niyah Rodriquez, and Ahmari Bryant were the age 7/8 champions, with Trevor Lites starring as the all-around champion. 

Mike Reed, Hunter Lites, and Khamari Griffrin were the age 9/10 champions, with Mike Reed starring as the all-around champion for his age group. 

Terrance Johnson and Isaiah Lee were the age 11/12 champions, with Terrance Johnson as the all-around champion. 

And Darnell Frison, Joshua Smith, Jalen Bernard, Brendan Mosley, and Giovanni Jackson were the age 13/14 champions, with Darnell Frison being named the all-around champion for his age group. 

For softball, Kayleigh Barnard and Ashlynn Greenfield were champions for the 7/8 age group, with Kayleigh Barnard as the all-around champion. 

Kainani Auld, Daiyauna Kraft and Fayelyn Lance were the age 9/10 champions, with Kainani Auld earning the all-around champion spot. 

Eyannah Savea was champion and all-around champion for the age 11/12 group, and Kyrstin Barnard was both the age 13/14 champion and the all-around champion. 

These winners will have the chance to compete in the Sectional completion, during which the All-Around Champions will become eligible for the Team Championships hosted by Major League ballparks.
