Eight Long County High School athletes have qualified for the AA state sectional track-and-field meet after their efforts at the Region 2-AA meet last Wednesday at Southeast Bulloch High School.
Seven LCHS girls and one boy will compete in the sectionals set for Saturday, May 2,at Fitzgerald High School.
Individually, Ja’ Nya Bryant will run in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. Katie Estill also will compete in the 200 dash, while Mya Howard will be in the long jump and Trinity Hall will compete in the 800 run.
Bryant, Hall, Estill and Kyanna Calhoun also will run in the 4x400 relay.
Courtney McNeal and Elexxus Wrighton are alternates who advanced.
Kameron Taylor is the lone LCHS boys’ team member who qualified for sectionals. He will compete in the mile run.
Erica Harris is the LCHS girls’ team coach, while Deshon Brock coaches the boys.
