Long County tops Bradwell

Bradwell Institute dropped Long County claimed a 5-2 win over Bradwell Institute on Monday in a non-conference game at BI.
The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth inning. The Lady Tide loaded the bases, and Lady Tiger pitcher Mackenzie Stewart walked in a run. The Tide had a few deep hits and got momentum, scoring five runs.
Meanwhile, Bradwell struggled to cross the plate. The Lady Tigers attempted a final comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning, but managed only two runs.
Long County’s Caitlyn Wingate was 2 for 4 at the plate and pitched a complete-game five-hitter with no walks and 11 strikeouts. The Lady Tide’s Makaylee Fowler was 1 for 2 and with a run.
The Lady Tigers, who fell to 3-13 overall, were scheduled to play at Liberty County High School on Tuesday and will host Effingham County High at 5 p.m. Thursday in a Region 3-AAAAA matchup. Bradwell entered Tuesday with an 0-4 region mark.
Long County, which was 8-7 overall, was scheduled to host Bryan County on Tuesday in a Region 2-AA game and will host McIntosh County Academy at
5 p.m. today in another region game. Going into Tuesday’s action, the Lady Tide were 3-3 in the region.
