The Long County football team will have two tune-up games to prepare for the upcoming season.
On Friday (Aug. 17), the Blue Tide will have, what is being called the “Soap Bowl” when they have their annual Blue/White Scrimmage. Admission will be any donation, which will help the team maintain and clean uniforms.
Any type of laundry detergent will be taken and appreciated. People can also bring out any other type of donation that could be used to clean clothing and other gear.
Coach Kyle Wilson also said donations like DVD disks or VHS tapes would also be accepted, because the team is taping games this year. Game time is 6 p.m. at Veterans Field.
The Blue Tide will also have a scrimmage on Aug. 23 when they take on Savannah’s Johnson Atom Smashers. The 3-AAAAA school should be a good test for Long County as they make those final adjustments to their roster in preparation for the upcoming season.
Admission for that game is $3. It too will be at Veterans Stadium, but game time for that contest is 7 p.m.
The Blue Tide opens the regular season Aug 31 when they travel to Savannah to take on the Savannah Country Day Hornets.
You can read all about the 2007 season in the upcoming Blue Tide Special Edition, which will be featured in the Courier soon.
