Toronto Blue Jay pitcher Dustin McGowan’s future is still up in the air.
"We don’t have any additional information to report as of yet, just rehabbing with the team in Toronto," the Long County native said early this week.
A report released by Toronto manager Cito Gaston on March 29, wasn’t optimistic about McGowan returning this season. The right-hander has had pain in his right shoulder.
In contrast, in a phone interview Monday McGowan said he was optimistic he would return this year. He did confirm his shoulder, which was operated on last July, was still giving him pain.
"I want to pitch this season and that is still my goal," He said. "I will work hard to achieve this, but I have to be smart on the other hand and not hurt myself."
Toronto is currently in the top spot in the American League Eastern Division with a 6-2 record, one-half game ahead of Baltimore, and a game and a half ahead of Tampa Bay.
