Ludowici native Dustin McGowan has been released by the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to a report Tuesday on cbssports.com.
McGowan, a right-handed pitcher, had a 6.75 earned-run average in seven games in spring training, according to the report.
He was due a $1 million bonus if he was on the major-league roster for a minimum of one day, the report added.
McGowan spent his first seven years of his major-league career with Toronto before signing with the Dodgers in February.
He has a 25-27 career Major League Baseball record with a 4.57 ERA.
