McMillan, Buckeyes draw Fiesta Bowl.

According to a press release by Ohio State, the 11-1 Buckeyes will meet the 10-2 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in in Glendale, Arizona.

Former Liberty County High School football player Raekwon McMillan is currently the starting Buckeye middle linebacker. This will be McMillan’s second bowl appearance, as the Buckeyes played in last year’s national championship game, where Ohio beat Oregon 26-17.

McMillan led the Buckeyes in tackles this season with a total of 114 in 12 games.

He was also a finalist for the Butkus Award. But the award was given to Notre Dame junior Jaylon Smith.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. EST (11 a.m. MST). Ohio State is ranked seventh by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee, while Notre Dame is ranked eighth.

This will be the 45th Fiesta Bowl and a rematch of the 2005 game when Ohio State defeated Notre Dame 34-20 to cap a 10-2 campaign.

The game also will represent Ohio State’s 46th bowl game, with the Buckeyes owning a 21-24 all-time record in bowl games. Ohio State has played in six previous Fiesta Bowls.
