Liberty County High School’s Walker Franklin was one of two players chosen to play quarterback for the Georgia Sports Alliance East vs. West All-Star High School Senior Football game.

Franklin will play on the East team being coached by Jones County High School coach Justin Rodgers. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ed DeFore Sports Complex in Macon.

Franklin transferred to Liberty this year and had to overcome obstacles throughout the season. After transferring from Wayne County High, the Panther quarterback was forced to miss a few games while he waited for his eligibility status to be clarified by the Georgia High School Association.

Once cleared, Franklin started four games before he injured his wrist and was out for the remainder of the season.

Franklin arrived at Liberty as a highly scouted player and in those four games played he finished 32-of-71 for 400 passing yards and three touchdowns. He rushed for 77 yards on 13 carries.

Despite the rough season, Panther coaches had high regard for Franklin’s commitment to the team, his character and work ethic. Offensive Coordinator Ryan Glazer said they nominated Franklin for the East-West game and are glad he was chosen.

Tickets are available at the gate for $12. For more information including the East/West rosters visit: www.gsa-sports.com
