Liberty County High School’s cross country team qualified to run at state at the Region 3-AAAA tournament Tuesday.
The girls placed second overall and the boys placed third overall. The meet was held at Wayne County High School.
Lady Panthers Courtney Welch and Kiara Bell placed eighth and 10th, respectively, earning medals for the Liberty girls. Panther Cameron Ochoa also medaled, placing eighth in the finals.
The Liberty cross country teams will compete next weekend at the 2014 Georgia High School Association Cross Country State Championships. The meet will be in Carrolton Saturday.
The Panther boys will start at 10:35 and the Lady Panthers take the track at 11:15.
According to ga.milesplit.com, the Lady Panther runners are Welch, Bell, Jennifer Garcia, Adrrianna Valdez and Jatyra Moore. The Panther boys are Ochoa, Miquail Evans, Will Scaggs, Cleveland Dargan, Desmon Hines, Anthony Vasquez and Mikkel Schleemann.
