One month after she verbally committed to the University of Georgia swim team, Liberty County senior Sandra Scott made things official.

This week Scott penned her name to a scholarship to UGA during a ceremony held at the Chatham County Aquatic Center, where she swims for the Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team, or G-CAT.

The future biology major was considering offers from Arkansas, TCU and a few other top colleges before deciding with another of her top choices, UGA.
“I was thrilled and I cannot be happier with my decision,” Scott said adding that once she visited the campus and met the team and coaching staff, she was sold.

Scott said she plans to compete her freshman year and is already working out daily to make a big impact.
She competed throughout the summer and qualified to compete in the winter nationals, set to take place the first week in December in Atlanta.
Currently, she is ranked 6th in Georgia and 353rd for the Class of 2016.

The Lady Panther senior specializes in the 100 and 200 freestyle and the 200 and 400 Individual medley events.
Scott hopes to make the Olympics in the future, swimming for either Team USA or Team Finland, her mother’s home country and where she maintains dual citizenship.

Scott will report to UGA in the fall.
