There was no big game letdown for the Liberty County High School boys basketball team Friday night.

A week after knocking off state Class AAAAA power Beach, the Panthers held off McIntosh County Academy 63-58 in Darien.

"The last time that we ended up playing McIntosh after Beach we had tired legs and ended up losing," Panthers head coach Willie Graham said.

Liberty (3-0) came out quick against the Bucs and Liberty guard Michael Farrior’s 3-pointer gave the Panthers a 12-6 lead midway through the first quarter.

Both teams continued to trade jump shots and lay ups, and Liberty led 16-12 at the end of the first quarter.

The Panthers led 35-28 at the half. Liberty goes to 3-0 in this young basketball season. They played in Savannah Tuesday and were to play Wednesday in the Joe Greene Tournament.

The Panthers were scheduled to face Northeast Macon Tuesday at Beach High School.

"Northeast Macon had a very good team and came out of a tough region last year. They will be a good basketball team," Graham said.

Wednesday, Liberty will face county rival Bradwell Institute, who they defeated in a scrimmage earlier in the month.
