The Liberty County High School baseball team finished the regular season with losses at Savannah Christian and Portal.
On April 14, the Panthers fell 12-1 to the Raiders and dropped a 12-2 decision at Portal on Tuesday.
Against Savannah Christian, Jacari Roberts went 2 for 3 with one RBI. Roberts also pitched two innings, giving up eight runs on four hits, walking one and striking out one batter. Colby Rhea took the mound for two innings and struck out one batter and gave up four runs on five hits and a walk.
At Portal, the home Panthers’ Cole Busby gave up four hits and struck out four Liberty batters for the win. Liberty pitcher Quindon Montgomery pitched the first three innings, giving up two runs while netting six strikeouts. Aric Albertson struggled on the mound, allowing 10 runs and three walks in his 2 1/3 innings.
Albertson and Roberts both went 1 for 3 with one RBI. Portal had 12 runs off 11 hits.
Liberty County finished the season 14-7 overall and 6-4 in Region 3-AAAA. According to maxpreps.com the Panthers are third in the region standings.
Liberty will play in the first round of the region playoffs Friday, but the location and opponent weren’t determined by press time.
