Following the Panthers walk off victory over Bryan County at home, Liberty County traveled to Darien, Georgia for their first road game against McIntosh County Academy.

The Panthers struck first in the top of the first inning with a 2-RBI double from Aric Albertson. After giving up a run in the bottom of the first, they added two more runs in the second with two RBI singles from Dylan Stewart and Jacob Albertson.

With a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the second, McIntosh County retaliated in a major way.

An inside the park grand slam unloaded the bases and gave them their first lead of the game. A few wild pitch later in the game put the Buccaneers ahead 7-4.

Liberty was able to score a run in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, but McIntosh answered with runs of their own in two of the three. A scoreless sixth inning from both teams remained the Buccaneers with the lead 9-7 heading into the seventh.

The top of the seventh showed hope for the Panthers. With bases loaded, an error from the Buccaneers first baseman brought home Patrick Underwood and advanced Dylan Stewart to third and brought the game within one. Then a passed ball from the Bucs pitcher brought Steward home to tie the ballgame 9-9, and gave Liberty County hope to win the game in extra innings.

However, in the bottom of the seventh, McIntosh County was able to load the bases and bring home the game winning run off of a passed ball from the Panthers to get the win 10-9.

Liberty suffers their first loss of the season, and looks to move forward in their next game. The Panthers play Claxton High School on Thursday Feb 16 at 5 p.m.
