Preparing for the region playoffs, Liberty Panther baseball coach David Samuel asked his team to play with intensity when they faced the Johnson High Atomsmashers Wednesday night in Savannah.

Seventeen hits and 7 walks later the Panthers finished the Atomsmashers, winning 22-3 in five innings.

"I think the boys did a good job of playing intensely," Samuel said. "We put up 8 runs in the top of the first, then Cody (French) came in and shut Johnson down. After one inning, everyone could feel that we had total control of the game."

Samuel said French did well on the mound, allowing only 3 hits and netting 7 strikeouts.

Senior Panther Zach Hensley ripped a line drive homerun to left center field for his first homer of the year. Cameron Harris added a triple.

The Panthers were set to play their last two games of their regular season on Thursday at home against Pierce and today in Milledgeville against Baldwin County.

According to Georgia Prep the Panthers will face Spalding High in round one of the playoffs. That game will be in Griffin on May 8. Spalding High is 18-3 overall and 13-3 in Region 4-AAA. The Panthers are 12-9 and 6-5 in Region 3-AAA as of Thursday morning.
