Panthers, Tigers lose recent games

Following Liberty County’s 10-9 loss on Valentine’s Day to McIntosh County Academy, the Panthers returned home Thursday to face Claxton High.

The Panthers lost that contest 3-1 to drop to 1-2 on the season. Pitcher Brett Smith threw for five innings, giving up eight hits, two runs and earning eight strikeouts. Centerfielder Dylan Stewart got three hits in four at bats with one RBI.

Liberty County also lost to Bryan County 6-5 Monday. The Panthers defeated Bryan County in their season opener 2-1.

Monday, Liberty scored in the first, second, fourth and sixth inning and went into the sixth tied 5-5.

The Redskins, however, had a walk-off run in the sixth.

The Panthers look to dust themselves off and prepare for their matchups against Savannah Country Day and Bradwell this week.

Tigers

Bradwell Institute took on Bryan County in a double header on the road on Saturday and lost in an 11-10 shootout in game 1. Tigers player Evan Crystal went 2-4 with three RBI’s and a run, while Jordan Lambright went 3-5 with an RBI and two runs, and Terry Wells went 2-4 with two RBI’s.

Bradwell lost Game 2 10-4.

The Tigers are currently 0-3 on the year and look to obtain their first win of the year in their next matchup. Bradwell plays at home on Thursday against Windsor Forest at 5 p.m.
