The Panthers are moving on.
Liberty County (8-3) will host Westside Macon in the second round of the state Class AAA football playoffs after beating Dougherty County 43-6 on Friday at Donell Woods Stadium.
The Panthers’ first-round win was every bit as lopsided as the final score made it look. Liberty County scored less than two minutes into the game, led 16-0 end of the first period and 43-0 at halftime.
Sophomore quarterback Dionte Bowens and junior running back Kris Coleman both accounted for three touchdowns. Bowens completed 3 of 5 passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for a TD.
Coleman rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on six carries and added a 55-yard touchdown catch.
Russell Dandy hauled in a 28-yard touchdown catch, and Markell Johnson scored a pair of touchdowns on an interception return and a 7-yard run.
