Cassandra Pelton of Ludowici earned first- and second-place finishes in two recent archery events, according to Evans County Junior Olympic Archery Development Archery Team coach Holly Edgar.
On June 28 in Conyers, Pelton placed second in the female junior recurve division to compete in the 2014 J.O.A.D. State Target Competition.
Teammate Todd Edgar of Cobbtown won the championship in the male cadet compound division.
Last Saturday, also in Conyers, Pelton competed in the 2014 Georgia Games and took first place in the first Olympic recurve adult division. Pelton competed at 60, 50 and 40 meters against other archers from around Georgia.
“This was a 900 round, where 90 arrows are shot for a score on a 122cm target face,” Holly Edgar said.
Todd Edgar placed second in the compound intermediate division.
Both now are eligible to compete in the State Games of America in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 2015.
