The Long County High School softball team lost a tough game Thursday, falling 6-1 to Pierce County High School.
Despite the loss, Blue Tide head coach Jennifer Alfirov said she was pleased with the way Kelly Long hit the ball, and she likes the way the team’s work ethic is progressing.
"I like that they are finally ready to work hard. They aren’t happy with the way we have been playing and they are finally ready to work hard to get better," Alifirov said.
She added, "Regardless of how we play, I think that everyone can get better every day. We have good games and we have bad games, great innings and terrible innings. That’s the most frustrating part — I never know how we are going to play against teams."
"We have an enormous amount of potential. We just need to play to our potential and we’ll be fine," Alifirov said.
Yesterday, the Lady Tide were to travel to Hinesville to take on the Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers. Before the match, the coach voiced her expectations.
"We had a long practice last night (Monday), and I hope we come out hungry for a win today," Alifirov said. "I hope we show up with our best, ready to play."The Courier will report Tuesday’s results when they are available.
On Thursday, the Tide is back home to take on McIntosh County.
