A brief dedication ceremony was held April 4 to name the playground at Liberty Independent Troop Park the “Mike Carreker Playground.”
Liberty County Recreation Department Director Jimmy Martin said Carreker volunteered 28 years for the department, seven as a T-ball and youth baseball coach, then 21 as a board member.
Carreker died one year ago.
