The Long County boys track and field team competed in the recent Georgia High School Association 2-AA State Championship in Jefferson.
The Blue Tide’s Cameron Taylor brought home a sixth-place ribbon in the 1-mile run, posting a 4:40.63 time, becoming only the second boy in school history to stand on the state championship podium by finishing in the top eight.
Coach Deshon Brock said, “Cameron is only a sophomore, and we look forward to him making another run at state in years to come.”
Though Taylor was the only Long County boy to bring a ribbon home, several other team members showed well during the season.
Members included Eric Crawford, Brendon Scott, Holden Riddle, Tariq Carpenter, Shuvon Davis, Chris Wells, Justin Hubbard,-Mike Ross, Tavon Anderson, Tavon Phillips, Ezra Anderson, Zion Anderson, Kyree Coprick, Liam Kelly, Lamar Lawrence, Justin Floyd, Gavin McNeel, Isaac Abram, Jaylen Bryant, Jayshaawn Cochron, Jeremiah Marrero, Dazon Mills, Ioannis Watkins and Keishawn Wagner.
