Bradwell Lady Tigers Softball Conditioning and Try-outs

The Bradwell Lady Tiger’s Softball team has been conditioning Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-7:30pm, and Saturday mornings from 9:00-11:00.  Ladies entering grades 8-12 are welcome to attend.  Participants must have a current sports physical to attend. Ladies, please bring tennis shoes, a water bottle, and a motivated attitude. The BI players are selling discount cards to raise funds for the upcoming season. The cards are $10 each and can be used at specific local retailers and businesses for discounts or free items. For more information about the discount cards, email ghill@liberty.k12.ga.us

The Liberty County High School football players are selling discount cards to raise funds for the upcoming season. The cards are $10 each and can be used at specific local retailers and businesses for discounts or free items. 

Lady Panther softball conditioning, tryouts

Liberty County High School girls’ softball players are encouraged to attend conditioning from 8-10 a.m. July 28-31 on the Lady Panthers’ field. Tryouts for the softball team will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 1. Each potential player must have a current physical on file. For more information, call coach Jerome Standard at 912-312-0331.

YMCA Co-Ed Basketball Camp

The Liberty County YMCA is hosting a co-ed basketball camp this Saturday and Sunday. The camp is open to ages 7-18 and costs $25 per player. Camp runs from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday and from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Sunday. Camp is being led by local basketball coaches Harvey Harris, Simon Steele, Marcus Scott, Cedric Robertson and Khari Collins.

YMCA Boxing Class

Registration is open for the YMCA’s new boxing class.The class is open to ages 16 and older. Cost is $20 per month for members and $40 per month for non-members. The class is designed to develop new skills in a fun and safe environment. Class meets once a week and payments are made prior to the beginning of the month.

All-Stars announce fifth annual awards banquet

The fifth annual Scott’s All*Stars awards banquet will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 21, at Club Stewart on Fort Stewart.

WSAV Sports Director Ken Slats will be the emcee. Savannah businessman Antwan Lang will be the keynote speaker.Tickets for the event are $25.For more information, call Marcus Scott at 912-655-4371. 

‘Hank’ White golf tourney set for Aug. 2

The 10th annual Henry “Hank” White Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off at 9 a.m. Aug. 2 at the Cherokee Rose Golf Course in Hinesville. Tournament fees are $60 per person or $240 for a team of four and include golf cart, green fees and lunch. Mulligans are $5 each and limited to two per person. Prizes are awarded for first-, second- and third-place teams. There also will be prizes for the closest to the pin, longest drive, longest putt and straightest drive.A golfer will win a car by hitting a hole-in-one at No. 3 or 13.

Second annual Safe Kids Savannah Youth Triathlon

The second annual Safe Kids Savannah Youth Triathlon will be at 8 a.m. Sept. 6. Registration is open for the swim, bike and run event geared toward youth ages 7 to 15. To register, go to www.runsignup.com and click on the “Race” tab at the top of the page. Registration forms are also available at Fleet Feet Sports at 3405 Waters Ave. and at the Chatham County Aquatic Center on Sallie Mood Drive.

Race honors FDNY

Registration for the Tunnel to Towers run is open. The race is set for Sept. 13, and the 5K run/walk begins at 8 a.m. The third annual Tunnel to Towers Run Savannah honors the legacy of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller along with his 342 FDNY first responders who sacrificed their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Proceeds benefit the Tunnel to Towers Run Foundation’s various programs including Building for America’s Bravest, which constructs specially adapted homes for injured service members. The run in Savannah will also feature The Siller Cup Firefighter Challenge. Teams of four firefighters or more from across the nation are expected to compete for a chance to take home a traveling trophy.

The T2T Run Savannah is also looking for children to be involved in a memorial tribute to honor each of the 343 fallen FDNY firefighters.
