Statesboro takes twin bill from Bradwell Institute

The Lady Blue Devils of Statesboro High School gave the Bradwell Lady Tigers a tough battle dropping the Lady Tigers 55-25 on Dec. 11 at the Tigers’ home gym.

The Statesboro girls remain undefeated at 6-0. They kept the Bradwell girls to low single digit scoring throughout the game. Lady Devil Jamiah Jones dropped in 14 points to lead the Statesboro team.

Lady Tiger Bailey Gilmore dropped in seven points, Alysia Estrada and Ka’liyah Tillman each added six points for the Lady Tigers. Gilmore was 1 for 1 from downtown and Estrada was 1 of 2 on three-pointers. Tillman was 1 of 4 three point attempts. The Lady Tigers were 6 for 8 at the free throw line in the loss.

The Lady Tigers struggled to maintain control of the ball ending the game with 45 turnovers. They also had 15 personal fouls.

The Lady Tiger (2-2) tip-off at 6:30 p.m. at Coffee County High School in Douglas.

In the boys’ game the Blue Devils beat the Tigers 43-37 dropping the Bradwell boys to 1-3 for the season.

Rishard Money and Elyiah Thurmon each chipped in 10 points Jaylin Frasier added seven among the top scorers in the loss. The boys were 12 of 25 at the free throw line had 30 turnovers and committed 22 personal fouls. The boys were scheduled to play McIntosh County Academy (1-5) last night. Friday’s game against Coffee County (1-4) starts after the girls’ game ends.
