The Long County baseball team defeated McIntosh County Thursday, ending their season on a positive note and a winning record.

The Blue Tide defeated the Buccaneers 8-1, being led by the seniors on the team. Bryan Wingate pitched and he went all seven innings, allowing only one hit and one unearned run in the game.

With the win, the Tide finished the season winning seven of their last nine games, barely missing the playoffs with an overall record of 14-12 and a 2-AA Region mark of 6-10.

Regarding the season Thomas said, "We’re disappointed that we were not able to reach the playoffs, but we are happy that we had a winning season, and our seniors left a great impression on our underclassmen for next year."
