Tide honor senior athletes, musicians
Students lauded before football game

Long County High School celebrated Senior Night on Friday, honoring and all seniors who participate in band, cheerleading and football. They were recognized before the Blue Tide football game.

For the band, seniors Terry Cunningham, Nick Garcia, Chris Lozo, Keenan Pacut and Jennifer Pierre were applauded.

Cunningham has been a member of the band for four years. He also participates in Science Club, FBLA and HOSA. He plans to attend Clark Atlanta University next year and major in pre-pharmacy.

Garcia has also been a member of the band for four years. He is a member of the school’s archery team, 4-H Club and BETA Club. Garcia plans to either attend Georgia Tech or join a branch the military.

Lozo has been in the band for four years, and is a member of BETA Club. Lozo said he enjoys designing Web sites and plans to become a game artist and animator.

Pierre has been a band member for three years, and enjoys drawing. After graduation, she wants to study to become a veterinarian.

Pacut has been in the band for four years, and is the drum major. He is a member of BETA Club and plans to teach and pursue a career in music.

For the football team, Christopher Banks, Justin Boyd, Donte Brown, Omar Castro, Jake Durham, Bernabe Guadalupe, Brandon Hadley, and Glenntis Watkins were recognized.

Banks has been on the team for four years. He also performs in his family’s gospel group, Undefined Praise. After high school, he plans to attend college and major in music.

Boyd played football for four years and is a member of the basketball team. He also plans to play baseball this year. After graduation, he wants to attend college and major in sports medicine.

Brown has played football for four years. He is also on the basketball team and the youth advisory council. He plans to enroll in college and major in sports medicine.

Castro has been a member of the football team for four years. After graduation, he will either enlist in the Marine Corps or become a mechanic.

Durham has been a member of the football team for three years. He also plays baseball. He wants to play college football and major in sports media.

Guadalupe has been a member of the football team for four years. He is also in FBLA and TSA. After graduation, he’s going to Georgia Southern University.

Hadley played football for three years. He is a member of the YAC and FBLA. Hadley wants to attend college and become a sports anchor for ESPN.

Watkins just moved to Long County and this is his first year on the football team. He will also run track and play basketball this season. After graduation, he’s going to Georgia Tech.

Senior Blue Tide cheerleader Kameron Dansbury also was honored Friday. Kameron is a member of the school’s chorus group, yearbook staff and BETA Club. After graduating, she plans to attend Georgia State University and major in nursing.
