The Bradwell Tigers boys track team took first place, earning 71.5 points, against McIntosh Academy and Wayne County High School Tuesday.
The other teams scored 43.5 and 33 points, respectively. It was the first track meet of the season at Bradwell.
New Tiger track coach Deandre Davis said he was proud of the boys’ accomplishment, especially braving the cold.
Field event leader, senior Shaquille Russell, said he plans to break the 160’ mark this season in the discus throw. On Tuesday he took first with a 144’ throw. He also took first in the shot put.
Another senior, Tiger JaShan Thomas, took second in the shot put and was edged out of second in the discus when a Wayne County Yellow Jacket hit a distance of 138.3’. Thomas threw 138.5’.
The Tiger runners took first in the 4X100 and 4X400-meter relay races. Tiger Manuel Crum took first in the 100-meter dash.
The Tigers host Wayne County and Brunswick at home at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
