Bradwell Institutes Desman Martin won the triple and long jumps last weekend at the Region 3-AAAAA meet in Waycross.

The Bradwell Institute boys’ track-and-field team brought home honors from last weekend’s Region 3-AAAAA meet in Waycross.

The boys’ team won its seventh region title in the last eight years, and boys’ coach DeAndre Davis earned his seventh Region Coach of the Year award.

In the girls’ division, the Lady Tigers finished fourth overall, according to ga.milesplit.com. Statesboro took the first place spot with Brunswick second and Ware County third.

Davis said several athletes already have qualified for sectionals this weekend in Loganville.

Kevin Hallmon broke the school and meet 200-meter-dash record by finishing in 21.67 seconds.

Desman Martin won the triple and long jumps, Lorenzo Brinson finished third in the long jump, and Terrius Crimiel finished second in the triple jump. Also, Christopher Jackson finished fourth in the high jump which, the coach said, made him an automatic qualifier.

“The biggest surprise was Daylon Baker,” Davis said. “In his first year competing, he threw a personal best of 47 feet in the shot put.”
Davis said the Lady Tigers have qualified in eight events.

Lady Tiger Whitney Anderson finished seventh in the high jump. Miracle Fata finished sixth in the long jump. Kalia Burks finished fifth in the shot put and sixth in the discus.
