Bradwell Institute’s boys golf season ended Thursday at Henderson Golf Course in Savannah.
The Tigers top four golfers shot a combined 467 to finish sixth in Region 3-AAAAA. Camden County won the region, shooting 351, and Groves finished second, shooting 381. Both Camden and Groves advance to the state meet at Jekyll Island.
Freshman Ryan Norris led the Tigers, shooting 99.
“Ryan did an excellent job leading the team this year,” BI coach Ken Griffin said. “He played in all matches, was present at 99 percent of the practices, recruited guys to participate and entertained everyone on the bus. I look forward to him progressing during the summer and being a stronger player next year.”
Griffin admitted finishing sixth was disappointing, he pointed out that three players had never picked up clubs before this season.
He went on to say the Bradwell guys represented the school and community well.
To improve their golf skills, the team will play in tournaments this summer.
“This will give the students an opportunity to learn to play better and to compete,” Griffin said. “It has been my privilege to be the golf coach this year. I look forward to working with these students again next year. I also encourage others to consider becoming a part of our program.”
