Bradwell Institute’s volleyball team split victories this past Tuesday defeating Appling County but falling to Southeast Bulloch.

According to Tiger volleyball coach DeAndre Davis, the Lady Tigers defeated Appling in three sets. But the coach said simple mistakes caused the team to fall short against SEB.

The coach said first year player Kiara Simmons led all scorers with 20 points. Ky’Leo Worriels pitched in 18 points, while Vivica gray added 16 points. Nikki Lakin led the team with 9 kills on the night. Freshman Jocelyn Robles, played excellent defense, the coach said. Simmons, Eva Lauer, Nyasia Mackey and Robles each had a 100 percent serving average.

Davis said the junior varsity game was a barn burner but the Tigers got the win.

“The win was a total team effort,” he said. “The ladies were down 10-19 in the third set to Appling. They came all the way back to win the match. The ladies never quit or got mad at each other. They kept fighting until the very end. The final score was 29-27. The JV is now 2-0 on the season.”

The Tiger volleyball team plays at 7 p.m. at Effingham County Thursday.
