The Bradwell Institute weightlifting team state qualifiers competed in the Lee Murray GACA State Weightlifting meet in Perry recently, pitting their talent against some of the toughest competitors in the state.
Reuben Boone competed in the 171-180 lb.-weight class and placed eighth overall with a 1010 lb. total for bench press, parallel squat and power clean.
Sheldon Barnes competed in the 191-205 lb.-weight class and placed 16th overall with a 975 lb. total.
Charles Burch competed in the 141-150 lb.-weight class and placed 13th overall with a 805 lb. total.
"The guys competed very well for themselves against a very strong level of competition, coach Aaron Mock said. "There were some very strong high school kids moving a lot of weight. Valdosta and Peachtree Ridge were loaded with competitors, which says a lot about their programs. I would like to see the rest of our kids get to their level."
