Tigers and Eagles celebrate

It took seven innings and a 30-minute rain delay to determine a champion, but in the end the Tigers outlasted the Eagles 3-2 Tuesday to win the LCRD Pee-Wee softball championship.
Rachael Smith knocked in the winning run, scoring Mary Whitney.
Eagles coach Ritchie Anderson said he was proud of his girls and that win, lose or draw it was good fun.
“After the game, you couldn’t tell who won or lost,” he said. “It was one of the best games I’ve seen in the 7-8-year-old group in a long time.”
The Eagles came out of the losers bracket and defeated the Tigers 10-5 to force the championship “if” game.
Smith got things started for the Tigers, scoring in the first inning.
Both defenses played stellar the next two innings, as no runs scored.
Tia Anderson tied the game for the Eagles in the fourth, but Smith scored in the bottom half to put the Tigers back in the lead, 2-1.
In the fifth, Shania Eldridge and Chelsea Beverly scored to put the Eagles ahead 3-2.
But, in the bottom half Brianna Dinkel forced extra innings, crossing the plate for the Tigers.
In the first game, Shania Eldridge tripled and scored two runs for the Eagles. Taryn Rhodes Tia Anderson and Aliyah Caraballo also scored.
For the Tigers, Smith, Alean Edwards, Jennifer Pirkle and Mackenzie Stewart scored.
Eagles players include Tia Anderson, Chelsea Beverly, Aliyah Caraballo, Shania Eldridge, Ivonne Ettienne, AmberBrooke Holland, Jessica Kifferly, Taryn Rhodes, Cassandra Ruff, Morgan Schmitt and Sidney Wilkinson.
Tigers players include Baeleigh Dinkel, Brianna Dinkel, Alena Edwards, Shy-Ane Foskett, Kourtney Gamble, Madison Howe, Alyssa Kellar, Jennifer Pirkle, Tashyria Shepherd, Rachael Smith, Mackenzie Stewart, Navia Telfair and Mary Whitney. Michael Smith coaches the Tigers.
