Bradwell kept their playoff hopes alive, defeating Beach 19-4 in four innings Tuesday.
The Tigers are 7-5 in Region 3-AAAAA and must beat either Jenkins today or Groves Tuesday to advance to the state playoffs for the first time since 2001.
Both games start at 4:30 p.m.
In the win against Beach, every Tiger batter recorded a hit. Daniel Materne, Steven Dill and Kentrell Hargrove each went 3-for-3. Materne and Dill also had sacrifice flies.
Hargrove was not only a force at the plate but also on the mound. He pitched a complete game, allowing only one hit and struck out six Bulldog batters.
The day, however, belonged to senior Nick Franks.
The Tigers’ lone senior was honored before the game for his four years of dedication to Bradwell’s baseball program.
Franks, who is batting .480 this season, improved his batting average, going 3-for four, with two doubles and scoring two runs.
Despite the final score, the Bulldogs were no push-over. The spirited team took advantage of three Tiger errors in the third inning to score three runs. Beach scored another run in the fourth inning to pull within three runs — 7-4.
Bradwell, however, found its groove in the bottom of the fourth inning and scored 12 runs to end the game on the mercy rule.
The bats could not come alive at a better time for the Tigers.
Friday, they face a formidable Jenkins team in Savannah, who defeated Bradwell 12-6 earlier this season in Hinesville.
