Tigers fall to Wildcats, 34-24

Bradwell Institute gave Richmond Hill High School a battle in a Region 2-AAAAAA contest Friday at Hokey Jackson Stadium. The Wildcats won, however, 34-24.

Bradwell Institute fought a tough battle against the Richmond Hill Wildcats last Friday at Hokey Jackson Stadium. The Wildcats had a stronger second quarter giving the visiting team the 34-24 win. 

Tiger quarterback Dariuse Cooper was 11 of 21 with 187 passing yards and a touchdown. Cooper also rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers’ ground game. 

The Tigers were up 7-6 in the first quarter but the Wildcats managed to put up two touchdowns in the second quarter of play. The Tigers rallied but trailed 20-14 at halftime.

Both teams scored touchdowns in the third quarter making the score 27-21 in favor of Richmond Hill. The Wildcats managed to push in another touchdown in the fourth quarter while the Tigers had to settle for a field goal for the 34-24 loss.

The Tigers had 196 rushing yards in the loss. The Wildcats had 286 rushing yards, led by Jalen Rouse with 223 yards and three touchdowns. Wildcat quarterback Tyler Coleman was 9 of 15 for 62 yards.

The Tigers are now 3-4 overall and 1-1 in Region 2-AAAAAA. The Wildcats move to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in the region.

The Tigers travel to Brunswick Friday to take on the Pirates in a region game. The Wildcats will host Wayne County. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
