Bradwell’s baseball team has not made the state playoffs since 2001, the Tigers and their fans will have to wait one more year. Groves ended the Tigers’ season Tuesday with a 13-5 win in Garden City.
Groves scored six runs in the sixth inning to break open a close game (7-5).
The Tigers finish the season tied for fourth with Johnson in the eight-team Region 3-AAAAA at 7-7, but the Atomsmashers have the tie-breaker thus advancing to the postseason.
Bradwell and Johnson split their two-game series but the Atomsmashers won by a larger margin, 9-5 compared to a 5-4 loss.
The future, however, looks bright for the Tigers as they lose only one senior — Nick Franks —  and several players have gained game experience that will help the team next year.
Bradwell coach Rhett Hellgren said the team will play summer baseball.
