In a heart breaker for the audience and team honoring the seniors, the Tigers lost to the Johnson Atom Smashers by 7. This allowed Johnson to clinch the second seed in the regions (3-AAAAA).
Outgoing seniors Dana King, Deon Villascencio, Edwin Cruz and Justin Monroe scored 22, 13, 11, and three points respectively.
The game stayed close with each team scoring back and forth and the score being within one or two points throughout, but it’s the final score at the buzzer that matters the most.
“We did not play clearly as well as we played Beach, we had a let down,” coach David Jones said. “It seems we can hold them in the beginning, but we can’t close the game. It’s the score on the board when the horn blows that counts.”
Region coaches will attend a meeting on Monday in Savannah to see if they play either Tuesday or Wednesday night in the Regional playoffs taking place at Windsor.
