Tigers, Panthers going to state meet
Track and Field

Members of the Liberty County High School and Bradwell Institute track and field teams recently competed at their respective region sectional events.
Liberty was at Eagles Landing High School in McDonough last weekend.
Lady Panther Destiny Hall placed second overall in the 100-meter dash. Panthers Jarquel Richardson and Patrick Williams both finished second overall in the men’s 100-meter dash.
Panthers Michael Guy, Richardson, Williams, Theodis Wilcox, Dennis Davis and Marc Dickey finished second overall in the men’s 4x100 relay race.
Hall will represent the Lady Panthers at the state meet in the 100-meter dash. Dejah Smith qualified for state in the shot put and Alyshia Anderson was set to compete at state in the triple jump.
The Panthers’ 4x100 relay team will compete at state. Richardson also qualified in the 200-meter dash and the 300-meter hurdles.
Anthony Stewart will compete in the shot put for Liberty and Panther Enrique Tolbert will compete in the discus throw. Wilcox also qualified for the 100-meter dash Williams also qualified for the 100 and 200-meter dash.
The Tigers were in Loganville last weekend for the class AAAAA sectional. Lady Tiger Katara Burks placed first overall in the women’s 800-meter run. Tiger Desman Martin placed third overall in the men’s long jump.
Burks was the lone BI girl to qualify for the state meet.
The girls’ state meet was scheduled for May 7-9 in Albany. The Courier will post final results once they are tabulated by ga.milesplit.com.
The boys’ state meet is set for May 14-16 in Jefferson.
Tiger Lorenzo Brinson qualified to compete in the long jump and 300-meter hurdles. Terrius Crimiel qualified in the 300-meter hurdles and triple jump. Kevin Hallmon qualified for the 100- and 200-meter races. Chris Jackson will compete in the 100-meter dash and Desman Martin will compete in the long jump.
