Congratulations are in order for the Bradwell Institute Tigers, who competed and came out on top in the 6th annual Tiger relays. There were seven teams in attendance (First Presbyterian, Bethesday Day, Whale Branch, Vidalia, Windsor Forest, Beach, New Hampstead). The Tigers finished first place in the annual invitational. Over 200 athletes competed last Saturday.

“The kids keep improving week by week,” said Tigers Track Coach DeAndre Davis. “They feed off of each other. The kids really hold each other accountable.”

Shamar Rose continues to have a dominating performance. He had a clean sweep in the 100 and the 200. Devin Nash a freshman keeps improving week in and week out. In the 100, he is ranked in the top 10. That is not bad for a freshman. These two continue to be the nucleus for the 6A leading 4 x 100m relay team.

On the distance side, the runners have been dropping times every week. Simon Steele continues to hold his own in the 1600 and 3200. Kasim Upchurch has really stepped up in the 800 and 1600. His times this weekend have been personal bests. Four more seconds and he will be in the top 5 in the state.

Donald O'Connor has been the biggest shocker of everyone. He has dropped almost one minute in the two mile and thirty seconds off of his mile time.

Davis says he is impressed with the performances of the team this year. There are four seniors on the team. The Tigers will travel to Valdosta this weekend to participate in the Harmon Invitational at Lowndes County High.
