The seventh annual Sunbury 5K was Oct. 7 with more than 100 participants.
Race organizer Patrick Boyle said it raised $5,250.
"That will be split evenly to Carpathia Paws, Hinesville Vietnam Veterans, and the Liberty Regional Homeless Coalition.
Since its inception the Sunbury 5K has drawn hundreds of participants and raised funds for local organizations. Runners go through the scenery of the Villages of Sunbury, Fort Morris State Park and Sunbury Crab Company and dock.
This year the race was presented by Merritt and Grinstead, Attorney at Law. This year’s gold sponsors included Sunbury Crab Company, Darsey, Black and Associates, State Farm/Adam Herndon and Ankle and Foot Associates.
Other sponsors were VIP Promotional Products, Fort Morris Historical Site, Coastal Courier, Hill on Wheels Bicycle Shop, Ted Hall Attorney and Rountree and Brady Insurance.
The overall winners of the men’s division were:
First place, Frankie Williams, 17 (19:09.00)
Second place, Grady Coppock, 16 (19:41)
Third place, Brendan Vasher, 57 (20:16)
The overall winners in the women’s division were:
First place, Megan Korn, 19 (22:50)
Second place, Eryn Lawrence, 33 (24:55.00)
Third place, Lillian Kuhl, 16 (25:48.00)
