Touchdown Club seeks support

The Long County Touchdown Club is looking for new members and new sponsors to join the organization this summer. The group hopes to be in full swing by the start of the 2010 football season.

The booster club is a nonprofit group that raises money for the Long County High School football program through its annual golf tournament and by putting together a wrestling card in Ludowici.

The group also counts on money from sponsors to buy signs to post at Veteran’s Stadium.

The initial sponsorship cost for a sign is $250 dollars for a two-by-four sign, $350 for a four-by-four sign and $500 for a four-by-eight sign. The annual renewal cost for the sponsorship is one-half of the initial fee.

"It has been our honor and privilege to receive the encouragement and see the confidence that local businesses have in the football program sponsorship," said club member Dedi Bailey.

Businesses and individuals may also become a gold sponsor for a fee of $1,000, which gets them to a four-by-eight sign, a football season pass, an ad in the football program, a polo shirt with a gold Tide logo and an ad on the football Web site, www.gobluetide.com. The current gold sponsors for the Touchdown Club are Hinesville Home Center, Raycon Construction, Phillips and Kitchens-Attorney’s at Law, Trapnell Motors, CMAD Construction and Harter Recycling Center.

"The signs and acknowledgement not only contribute to the marketing of local businesses, but they also allow the football team and school, to see how much support they have in the community," Bailey said.

For more information on becoming a member of the club, a sign sponsor or a gold sponsor, call Joey Harrison at 545-3104 or Blue Tide head football coach Kyle Wilson at 530-9443. Donations and membership fees can be sent via mail to Long County Touchdown Club, P.O. Box 542, Ludowici, GA 31316.
